A tag line is a short text used for branding and advertising purposes.

Comment

A tag line is a simple phrase serving to catch the consumer’s attention and stick in his or her memory. In British English, tag lines are called endlines or straplines. Tag lines can be seen as very close to a slogan, but a tag line is usually permanent for a brand, whereas a slogan promotes a particular product or campaign. Some very popular and successful tag lines through the years have included “Where’s the beef?” (Wendy’s, comparing the size of their burgers to those of the competition), “Think Different” (Apple), “I’m lovin’ it!” (McDonald’s), and “M’m! M’m! Good!” (Campbell’s Soup).

Heslo je jednoduchá fráze, která má získat pozornost spotřebitele a udržet se v jeho paměti. V britské angličtině se místo termínu „tag line“ používá endline nebo strapline. Hesla lze vnímat jako velmi blízká sloganům, ale heslo je obvykle permanentní pro značku, zatímco slogan propaguje určitý produkt nebo kampaň. Některá velmi populární a úspěšná hesla v průběhu let zahrnovala „Kde je hovězí?“ (Wendy’s, při porovnání velikosti vlastních burgerů s konkurencí), „Mysli jinak“ (Apple), „I’m lovin‘ it!“ (McDonald’s), a „M’m! M’m! Dobré!“ (polévky Campbell’s).
